When removing the crankshaft balance shaft assembly from the 2.0L EcoBoost engine, it frees up rotating mass and helps to improve engine response. However removing the balance shaft assembly alone can cause oil starvation issues during high G load corners and extreme driving because of the empty void left behind in the oil sump. When installing a balance shaft delete by itself can lead to severe engine damage in certain conditions due to inadequate engine oil pressure.

The mountune Oil Control System for the Focus ST 2.0L Ecoboost prevents catastophic engine failure under extreme conditions. The mountune Oil Control System includes an engineered baffled oil sump insert developed and engineered by mountune’s racing division that features one-way gates and diverters in the oil pan to maintain oil supply around the oil pump pick up. Also included with the kit is the specific balance shaft delete hardware you will need for a proper install. Tested and proven under extreme conditions, the mountune Oil Control System for the Focust ST 2.0L Ecoboost is perfect for track day use or other hard driving conditions.

Great design, not so great ride

This is an exceptionally made product. Mountune products always are. The minor power gains made don't account for the overall increase in NVH. Unless your building for track use or use super soft motor mounts to absorb all the extra noise created from the extra engine vibration, I wouldn't recommend this purchase. Reinstalling the balance shaft back on this motor. Will likely install in my spare ecoboost motor that is being built with another intention in mind.
