The Killer B Motorsport Upper Turbo Reservoir utilizes the OEM high point location, mounting points, Subaru filler cap, maintains proper cooling system function, and most importantly provides clearance for the big rotated turbo setups. All while looking like it belonged there, not as an afterthought.
A quick thread search will show LOTS of “I just changed my radiator and now my car overheats” threads that are a perfect example of what can happen if air is trapped in the cooling system. The turbocharged Subaru is a bit of an oddball in that the radiator filler neck is not the high point of the cooling system; the turbo charger sits higher than the radiator filler neck. So, to address this situation, Subaru uses the ECFT. The ECFT allows the cooling system to be filled and air to escape similar to a traditional system. For guys running a rotated turbo setup, the turbo inlet and/or inlet piping interferes with the ECFT. This means the tank either needs to be relocated or removed. While some have been successful in removing the ECFT, this is not the preferred method as its success is hit or miss at best. The other option is relocating the OEM tank to another location. Firewall, strut towers, and various other areas in the engine bay have been used via fabrication of brackets and other less glamorous methods. While this can work, the relocation requires longer lines that may themselves trap air if the routing is not well thought out, the final location may not be high enough to be as effective as the OEM location and it requires the additional use of fabrication tool and materials, which many of us do not have.

It's a great little expansion tank made from quality aluminum. It gives me a little more real-estate to work with in the engine bay which always helps on Subarus. The only reason for the four stars is the fittings were leaking and I have to add thread tape which was not included to fix that. Before and after photos included.
I ordered this to replace the stock as I was also installing a fmic and wanted to make sure clearances were all going to be fine. A minor snip of 2 hoses made it fit perfectly. Very happy
This piece is made so well. The finish is consistent and well applied and the fit is good.
We’ll let me tell you this little bullet is sleek looking in the engine bay. I wish it came assembled with the fittings in the reservoir, other than that it’s an awesome piece to replace your oem with an aftermarket part. None related but hopefully this resolves the last of my problems that’s coolant related, I recently replaced my radiator because the oem is prone to failure after 100k miles. But still had a small leak with the reservoir with one port after another, probably because of the clamps but I believe the barbed fitting will work effectively to stop any leaks. I do wish they had the wrinkle red available but black always works nicely
Great product by killer b. If you're going rotated setup on your Subaru and need the extra room for the inlet for your Turbocharger this is a great solution
Bought this for my rotated setup wanted better clearance for my turbo inlet. Really recommend comes in wrinkle black and flat out better than OEM.
Looks better and easy to install
If you’re like me you love a clean looking engine bay and let’s face the Subaru engines need all the help they can get. This Killer B upper coolant reservoir adds a nice touch and removes the horrible black plastic one.
I do like the wrinkle black but was hoping to get the red.
The packaging was on point and the install was simply.
I had some issues with one nipple however. The thread hole was not bored out properly and metal
shavings still existed. I had to clean and pry out the shavings, so be sure to check fitment of all thread holes on this product (mine reservoir did not come preinstall with the nipples). I put gasket sealer on the one nipple as insurance and it seemed to work.
