Reduce drivetrain shudder under hard acceleration by installing a PERRIN Pitch Stop mount. The factory pitch stop mount is designed to control the pitching of the engine and transmission under light to normal acceleration. Subaru's with power and drivetrain upgrades will need PERRIN's more aggressive option.
Under hard acceleration, the drivetrain is being twisted front to back from front axle torque twist. To control this front to back twisting, Subaru created a pitch stop mount. The factory pitch stop is made of plastic with soft rubber bushings, allowing for a significant amount of movement under hard driving conditions, creating drivetrain slop & shudder.
Great product- IIR always ships on time and has good packaging. This product really does decrease drivetrain slop by a large amount- lower gears are a lot tighter and I no longer have such a terrible gap between accel and decel like before. 2019 wrx.
Feels smoother than the OEM mount. I recommend this.
This pitch stop makes a world of a difference over oem. Just look at them side by side. The quality and performance difference is immediately noticeable.
Must have to replace the weak stock unit. I suggest bundling this with a bigger install that requires the removal of the intercooler to hit 2 birds with 1 stone
I never never what a difference this would make. But my car rides so much smoother. After finding my stock mount snapped in half by accident this was an amazing upgrade and I have no regrets! :)
Quick 10 min install, and much less jerking in all situations, even when I flub a shift
Noticed the change right away. Car feels better, but there is some increase in nvh, which is to be expected, but around 2k-3k rpm with light throttle it sounds almost like knocking. Torqued the bolts to spec. I’ve seen other people have a similar experience. Trying to get used to it but to be honest it’s not the most pleasant sound to hear when driving around.
Installation can be tricky, definitely apply the provided lubricant but sliding the mount into place to where the holes align for the bolts is a process. Also requires a good amount of force. Use leverage where you can, the AC lines are a bit in the way but nothing that should slow you down.
After install, no added NVH on start up. You may hear some extra noise from the engine that wasn’t there before but only noticeable out of first gear. However, the intention is to make take offs less “shaky” and better throttle response which you will notice.
when swapping to the Sti transmission I upgraded the mounts and added this pitch stop. Great price and really stopped trans slop.
