Great mod but not for everyone

Really only recommend this as the last step in fixing the stock shifter. Really makes it feel like linkage instead of cable but does require a fair amount of force. It’s also not the easiest of installs but plenty of vids online.

Just what I was looking for

Installed this along with the Perrin shifter bushing and shifter stop on my girl's 2019 Crosstrek. Install was easy and straight forward. Results are great. I enjoy driving the Crosstrek much more now as it shifts more like my STI with the factory installed short throw. My girl is also very pleased. Nice upgrade that you feel every time you drive. If you are used to having a sportier transmission/gearbox this will transform that boring oem throw into what you are looking for.

This is a must

Perkins short shifter is a must for anyone who wants to improve the shifter feel. I would say the feel is comparable to how the STi 6 speed feels now. I also paired this with the Perrin shifter bushing and shift gate stop. All the shift points feel precise and the "slop" and cheap feel of the stock setup are all gone. About an hour install time (done at my shop, on a lift). This install can be a serious PITA if your attempting this on your back but not impossible with the right tools. Backing off the transmission cradle bolts a few threads helps give you alittle more wiggle room. Make sure to make marks for the shifter pin before you put it back in.

Worth it, but get ready for a tedious install...

Okay, so this wasn’t a horrible install, it’s just a little aggravating. All the parts are right there in front of you, and for the most part easibly accessible with the right tools. After a rough time removing the throw out pin and getting everything back together I can say it was well worth it! I did the brass shifter bushing at the same time and that’s a lot easier doing alone. The throws are definitely shorter and it’s noticeable. It does go into gear a little rougher, but it’s tight and feels great. I also have the shift stop and the three together are a must upgrade! As always, Josh and his team got everything to me quickly at an unbeatable price! I forgot to take an after pic, but here is before and middle!
