WHY YOU NEED IT
Many Subarus come with a steering dampener installed which is designed to reduce feedback from the road. This dampener allows for slop in the steering wheel that does not translate to any movement of the wheels on the road. Whether you're turning the wheel under normal driving conditions, in a parking lot, or on the track, there is a noticeable slop in the steering wheel.
HOW IT WORKS
The PERRIN Steering Dampener Lockdown compresses the rubber within the dampener and fills the gap which virtually eliminates any play in the steering wheel.
INSTALLATION
The PERRIN Steering Dampener Lockdown is designed to be installed in as little as 30 minutes on a 2015+ WRX. Other models may require removal of additional parts; installation time is still less than an hour.
CONSTRUCTION & FINISH
The PERRIN Steering Dampener Lockdown is made from precision CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum. They come anodized black and are pad printed with the PERRIN logo for corrosion resistance and a stylish finish.
Any returns for an exchange or refund will be allowed within 30 days from the receipt of your order and must be authorized prior to shipping with an RMA Number (Return Merchandise Authorization). To receive your return instructions and RMA# please use our online form under Returns and Exchanges! Once you receive your return instructions please ship out the item at your earliest convenience and provide the tracking number to your customer service rep. The customer will be responsible for all shipping fees. Before shipping your product back please make sure you package it up exactly how you received it and in all of its original packaging. All items must be in brand new and resalable condition. Once the item is received it will be inspected and a credit will be issued accordingly. All returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee. Any returns received without an RMA# will be charged a restocking fee and any shipping fees associated with the return. An item that does not ship directly from IIR's warehouse is considered a "special order" item and no returns will be authorized.
Install was a bit tricky being someone with bigger hands as you do have to reach down into a fairly tight space. However, once I got the lockdown lubed up and in place on the steering rack, install was as easy as tightening it down. Taking the care out after I could definitely feel the car more responsive to steering feedback.
Much better feel on the steering wheel
Definitely a big improvement when driving my moms Honda to my wrx. It was not a bad install. 45 mins top. No play in the steering wheel at all.
Install was a breeze. Alot easier to get them clamped together with an inch pound impact. The vibration helps them work it's way in.
Steering now is super tight and responsive. Definitely a super good buy imo.
Super easy install on 05 LGT, did it from the bottom with no removal of anything. Made the steering feel more direct.
