This SFI 18.1 certified performance crankshaft damper is a direct bolt-on upgrade for the existing OEM elastomer style harmonic balancer and requires no installation modifications.

Fluidampr Performance Damper Benefits

A Fluidampr performance damper creates a foundation for improved durability and performance by providing long lasting, broad range protection against destructive crankshaft torsional vibration commonly found with engine modifications. It is recommended to install a Fluidampr performance damper early in an engine build for optimum benefits. Ideal for street enthusiasts to professional race teams who desire a maintenance free crankshaft damper that will remain compatible as upgrades are made as well as last the life of the engine without costly and time consuming rebuilds or replacements.

Design and Development

The design and development of this Fluidampr performance damper followed the same rigorous ISO 9001:2008 certified standard found in OEM supplied viscous dampers to the aviation and defense industries by Fluidampr's parent company, Vibratech TVD.

Starting with engineering research data, a design was constructed with computer simulation software and put through a series of proprietary computer simulated tests, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to measure damper resonance frequency and structural limits. The diagram below shows the actual FEA analysis at 12,500rpm required by SFI 18.1 spec. It is nearly four times the safety requirement needed for professional racing. From computer modeling the damper is printed on a 3D additive printer and sent to select industry leading engine builders for fitment verification. Once design specifications and fitment were verified, functional prototypes were developed and product testing began.

Fluidampr Performance Damper Design Features

The Fluidampr performance damper for 2013-later FRS/BRZ/GT86 and 2015 Subaru WRX applications incorporates a six-rib drive pulley and is precision CNC machined from high grade steel. Both the outer housing and internal inertia ring is high-speed computer zero balanced from the factory. The pre-drilled 3 bolt hole pattern (1.810 center – 5/16-18 UNF 2.75) on the outer housing accepts an ARE dry sump drive or other accessories with the use of a custom mounting bracket. The damper is finished in a corrosion resistant black zinc chromate finish and includes an engraved timing mark. Made in the USA.

Works as intended

It’s very nice construction came with everything needed to install it of course and it made a noticeable difference in the car I can feel how much smoother the car feels while idling driving and getting moving from a stop it just feels overall smoother

Every WRX/STI should have this

Super easy to install. Makes the already smooth FA engine buttery smooth! Just remember, if you buy this for the 2022+ VB you also need to purchase the hub as the OEM one is attached to the pulley on the FA24 and cannot be removed. Line up the keyways (SUUUUUUPER IMPORTANT) and slide her on.

A bit pricey but seems worth it

Car runs really smooth now. I'm no scientist but the car seems pretty happy with it. Had to get the Grimmspeed crank pulley hub as well to install this on my WRX.

Must buy!

The fluidampr really smoothened out my idle and made my revs more stable! Its a must for a built engine. If you have a 19-21 wrx you will need tje Grimmspeed crank pulley hub die to the factory 1 piece design.

A must-have for any Subaru driver!

Recommended to me by my Subaru mechanic/master tech as a minimum support mod for my car with its shortblock needing replacement (went aftermarket with forged internals) and heads basically being rebuilt. As it's been 10 weeks since I drove the car last (without the Fluidampr installed), I reckon it drives much smoother than it had in the past. Definitely recommend for you, especially if your car is modded!

A must for Subaru drivers, especially if modded.

Recommended by my Subaru mechanic/master tech as one of the minimum supporting mods when upgrading to an aftermarket shortblock and having the heads essentially rebuilt. While it's been a while since I drove my car without the Fluidampr, I definitely do notice a certain smoothness to the way it drives now. Definitely recommend!

Cover your asset

Necessary investment to keep your engine happy. Really only noticeable at high RPMs but it’s not meant to add power. Power delivery is much smoother than before though. The Company23 V2 tool is absolutely necessary for the install.
