Fabricated aluminum was used for strength as factory tanks fail after repeated high-heat situations. This aluminum tank can be polished, chromed, painted, powder coated or left as-is for a race look. Looks great works even better. I had a mishimoto one but it always leaked/forced coolant out the cap used multiple different caps with the same result. Zero issues with this moroso expansion tank it's fantastic.
Nice and clean look under the hood of my 04 Forester XT. I have a Koyorad aluminum radiator as well. Tank gives a nice look of cleanliness under the hood and seems to be of great quality. Only downside is my cap was leaking nonstop. I emailed IIR and they worked with me to get another cap sent out. Haven't received it yet but the tank is flawless and would recommend it however be prepared to deal with a flaky cap possibly.
This expansion tanks looks so amazing on the car, especially if you have an aluminum radiator to match. 10/10.
I had the Mishimoto version of the coolant expansion tank, and only had problems, it leaked when I closed the hood, it leaking from the welds, not to mention it was only 6 months old when it began leaking
The Moroso is clean and have yet to have a single problem, it took 15 minutes to install (just like the Mishimoto) but I did not have to hammer my hood to make it fit.
It fits my 08STI which it wasn’t supposed to. It is tight but it works. It came with a littl but of sand in it that I washed out. Also it came with a defective radiator cap. I called moroso and they sent me out a new one free of charge. It doesn’t fit very will with the crawford v3 AOS. To fit right it needs a modified turbo coolant output. On a stock sti this would be perfect.
