Upgrading the intercooler on your WRX can help to both increase airflow and reduce charge air temperatures, leading to more power! The COBB Top Mount Intercooler is perfect for applications where additional airflow and cooling is desired without the need to support a large upgraded turbocharger. You will remove the restrictive plastic factory charge pipe with the COBB Charge Pipe to increase airflow.

To handle the added weight of the COBB intercooler core, a heavy-duty replacement mounting bracket is used on the passenger side. An included bushing isolates vibrations from the engine block. Reinforced black silicone couplers are included to complete the installation, maximizing the flow path from turbocharger to throttle body. The included COBB Thrust Tunnel is constructed of wrinkle black powder coated aluminum and attaches to the factory hood ducting to maximize airflow through the core.

The COBB Charge Pipe for the 2015-2021 Subaru WRX is constructed of 6061 aluminum tubing. An integrated billet transition smoothly takes diameter from 2" to 2.5" to allow for increased flow while maintaining clearance for larger aftermarket radiators. A wrinkle black powder coat finish gives an upgraded yet subtle appearance under the hood. The included billet turbo adapter and 5-ply silicone make for a straight forward and leak free installation.

Great Quality

Fit and finish was exactly what you’d expect from Cobb. I was assuming the silver TMIC would just be raw, nope, not Cobb, it’s powder coated silver and looks great! The hood scoop mods were really the only hard part due to me not having the proper tool to remove the plastic pop rivets. Other than that, super easy install!

Unreal Temp Changes

Before going full bolt on and running the stock intercooler, my intake manifold temps would exceed upwards to 150 degrees while highway driving. After upgrading to this Cobb Tmic and charge pipe, my deltas are never 20 degrees hotter than ambient temp. Meaning when I’m cruising on the highway and it’s 80 outside my manifold temps are sitting at or below 100 degrees. This is super impressive and if you want to avoid knock events, please upgrade this. Even if you are not full bolt ons, this product is a must have in my opinion. Thanks again IIR!!

What an amazing TMIC from Cobb!

I picked this Cobb TMIC from IIR here just this last week and got it installed the same day I received it.

Pretty straight forward install, install videos on YouTube are pretty vague at the moment and for the 2015-2016 WRX Cobb should be a bit clearer on how to do the EPS relocation, and anyone with slightly bigger hands like me may want to do the Intercooler first then the charge pipe. It was a bit of a pain to get the big bolt and nut on the back side of the Intercooler bracket, actually had to have someone with smaller hands help me with that portion of the install, but other then that it was a good install and went well. Manifold temps are within 8-9 degrees under boost of ambient temps. Manifold temps are much more stable and don’t sky rocket like they used to, also heat soaking takes 3 times as long I’d say when just sitting idle, I had to test that lol. Once you get going after heat soaking the temps drop back down to a reasonable number with in a block or two. I remember the stock Intercooler it could be a few miles of driving before you were back to normal. From what I can feel the car is a bit more stable on acceleration due to the more stable temps. Sound is about the same as stock too. So for the people wondering if another manufacturers charge pipe would work with this the simple answer is gonna be “no” you’d need to cut yours down to make it work then use a coupler of some sort.
