The DBA XP650 track brake pads are excellent for high-performance driving conditions which require high-temperature operability while maintaining excellent pedal feel. hese pads have been manufactured with kevlar metallic formulas that are capable of operating at temperatures in excess of 1380 degrees Fahrenheit. The scorched finish will help with a fast bedding process.
These particular pads are suitable DBA 4000 and 5000 Series performance rotors, and they are also compatible with stock rotors or other aftermarket style performance rotors.
I have 07 wrx tr front calipers on my 13 wrx hatch. These pads were a game changer at the track. Pads held up and had constant brake feel thru out the day. Only down side is the stock rotors couldn't take the heat.
I decided on these pads after discussing with Zane my needs and also going over available options for my needs. He was able to provide me with great pricing and shipping, and accomodate my needs as far as payment and shipping. I also purchased a matching rear set of pads for my car.
The pads arrived in a timely manner, and installation was straight forward. Installation was performed with a new set of OEM rotors. Pricing and shipping were excellent.
The pads come with a generous sachet of moly lubricant, which is a nice touch from DBA. I did elect to reuse the OEM shims even though the DBA rotors come with integrated anti-rattle shims.
During the installation, I elected to upgrade to Stoptech braided brake lines as well as Castrol SRF DOT 4 fluid.
Break-in of the pads is quite straight forward and similar to other pads.
My initial impressions of the pads is that initial bite is pretty good (probably not as grabby at the top of the pedal as stock), but this grabbiness quickly comes in split second after the pedal is depressed. This is likely down to the friction coefficient of the pads increasing as they heat up from cold. Once they start grabbing, you get linear performance as you press the brake pedal harder.
Although these are marketed as a track-capable pad, my use case is more technically "street", but making a lot more power than standard, so I need a pad that will stand up to hard punishment, hauling the car down from elevated speed especially after…
