DBA XP650 rear brake pads
Picked these up along with a set of matching front pads for my WRX application.
Zane was able to provide me with quick and efficient service, having the pads delivered to my door as promised.
Installation of the pads was straightforward, with a generous sachet of moly grease being included by DBA, which I thought was a really nice touch. I elected to install a set of stoptech braided brake lines as well as Castrol SRF DOT 4 brake fluid for maximum long-term performance.
Once installed and broken in, I did notice that the pads have decent bite from cold, and quickly ramps up linearly as the pads heat up with a couple of wheel rotations, and as you apply more braking force. They do bite even harder as you apply more pedal and expose the pads to more heat. They do contain a metallic element to their construction (technically semi-metallic pads), but these were quiet in operation about 98% of the time. I did notice than in the rain, I would notice some *slight* noise on initial brake application, but this quickly went away as the pads generated heat.
I should note that I am technically still in the break-in phase, so no extremely hard braking is recommended, but with the 40-50% brake efforts I have performed so far, the level of brake performance has been impressive. Braking performance so far has been around what I expected, given the friction rating of the pads.
I would recommend these pads for someone like myself making significantly more power than stock , but still…
