It’s a drain plug. But has the magnet feature which has good strength.
Very high quality piece, haven't installed it yet but planning on doing an oil change soon. I love the fact that it has a reusable dowty seal, eliminating the need to replace the crush gasket every oil change. On top of that, it collects any metal shavings/ debris in the oil pan which is a huge advantage against the OEM plug. I've heard the threads are weak and I plan on torquing to the OEM 31 ft/pounds required for my '24 WRX, so I'll update if I have any issues/ if I'm able to update reviews here.
Installed this with my oil change. I haven’t changed the oil again yet so I can speak to how well the magnet works but I’m hoping for the best. Install was easy no problems with threading it in. During install I had to run over to the auto parts store to buy a 24mm socket lol . If you don’t have one, get it when you get this plug.
