Product Fitment:

2004-2007 Subaru WRX

2006-2007 Subaru STI

The Process West Top Mount Intercooler is engineered as a complete cooling system for Subaru WRX and STI applications, combining an optimized 90mm core, vehicle-specific splitter, and high-flow Y-pipe for maximum airflow and consistent performance.

Unlike oversized intercoolers that rely on factory ducting, the Process West system is designed to direct ambient air across the entire intercooler core, helping reduce heat soak and maintain lower charge temperatures during hard driving.

Key Features & Benefits

  • 90mm high-efficiency intercooler core
  • Vehicle-specific splitter directs airflow across the full core
  • High-flow moulded silicone Y-pipe for even charge-air distribution
  • Reduced heat soak under repeated high-load driving
  • Lower intercooler outlet temperatures compared with the factory setup
  • Helps deliver more consistent power and throttle response
  • Engineered as a complete intercooler and airflow system

Optimized 90mm Core

Process West selected a 90mm core to balance cooling capacity with airflow efficiency. Because air entering a top-mount intercooler must turn sharply through the hood scoop before passing through the core, excessively thick intercoolers can restrict airflow and reduce cooling effectiveness.

The 90mm design provides substantial cooling surface area while allowing air to move efficiently through the core.

Full-Core Airflow

A larger intercooler is only effective if the ducting can deliver air across the entire surface. Factory splitters may leave a significant portion of an upgraded core without direct ambient airflow.

The Process West vehicle-specific splitter is sized to match the intercooler, allowing airflow across 100% of the core for improved cooling performance.

High-Flow Y-Pipe

The included silicone Y-pipe is designed to distribute charge air evenly across the full width of the intercooler. This helps maximize the effectiveness of the entire core rather than concentrating airflow in one area.

Proven Performance

Back-to-back testing on a 2005 Subaru WRX showed:

  • Process West intercooler: 115.5 kW
  • Factory intercooler: 107.5 kW
  • Process West peak outlet temperature: 51°C
  • Factory peak outlet temperature: 66°C

After three consecutive dyno runs, the factory intercooler reached 84°C and continued climbing.

During spirited road testing, the Process West intercooler remained below 43°C, while the factory intercooler reached 72°C and was still increasing.

What's Included

  • Process West 90mm top mount intercooler
  • Vehicle-specific intercooler splitter
  • High-flow moulded silicone Y-pipe
  • Mounting hardware and fittings

2006-2007 WRX owners will need to use the older 2002-2005 BOV gasket with this intercooler.
