Tein RX1 Coilover Kit Subaru WRX / STI 2015-2021 | VSSB0-M1SS4

I was on the fence with many brands of coilovers but I am glad I got these. After research for many months, I wanted something that wasn't too aggressive for my daily but something I could keep for a long time. After finding out these are "rebuildable" . I pulled the trigger. Easy to install. Adjustments are simple and the default height is perfect. My only complaint is there is rubbing but this is due to me choosing fatter wheels.

These are actually really good coilovers! I've heard a lot of bad things about Tein but honestly I've never had a problem with these. I can only speak on behalf of the Type A's though. They come pre lowered and I was able to lower them a little more without the stock Sti 19" wheels rubbing. The dampeners are nice and a very noticeable difference when adjusting from soft to stiff. I'd recommend these to anyone looking for a budget friendly coilover that won't break the bank but also isn't the "cheap" option.

Got these installed today and everything torqued down to spec. Drove around the block and felt about the same as oem as I also followed the dampening recommendations the manual stated. Tomorrow morning is the alignment so only time will tell. The reason for 4 stars was how it arrived during shipping. Some coilovers were cosmetically scratched. IIR did resolve by throwing me 60 bucks in buildbux which is cool. And the phots show how it was installed out of the box....did not change the height on these and sat nicely.

I had the Street Basis coilovers before these. I can say the WRX handles much better and it's significantly smoother than before. I should have bought these from the start. Being able to change the damping is great and the ride height is much more adjustable than the Street Basis. I highly recommend getting these.

I took the coils and put them on the car as is. The car sat pretty low after that.

I raised the fronts by .5” and am happy with it. I’d probably recommend raising it .75 in the front, the rears were fine as is. Only noise I’m having is slowly reverse turning, you can hear the coil flex as it turns. I’ve heard some people spraying some lubricant on top of the coils to help with that noise. First pics are adjusted and the rest isn’t adjusted.

Hopefully whoever is reading this uses my review as they teetering point to buy these things. I spent hours looking for a nice pair of coils within my price range. Kept hearing day in and day out that "cheap coils" were crap. Not with these. I wanted the whole get up, good ride quality, great handling, and the ability to rebuild the coil. Something you cant't ask from all coils, especially cheap ones. However, This set up DOES have it all. Comes pre-loaded from factory. So if you have a stock 2015+ WRX or STI it rides pretty damn near perfect right out of the box. Even with the stock wheels. From what people are saying, I can confirm these ride so much smoother than the Flex A's. The $200 extra I say is worth it. The only cons to these coils was the extra road noise that was introduced. Factory top hats are all rubber but these are top hats are metal.

I was a little cautious buying coilovers for my 2015 Sti, but had saw these being praised for their comfort vs the flex Z’s. So far after a month, I have really had no real problems out of these coilovers at all. I left them the height they were from the factory and it gave roughly a 1.2” front and 1” rear drop. The install was fairly simple, and everything went together nicely. The only downer is that they do cause some noise over bumps, which I have been told is normal. I fixed the noise mostly by spraying some white lithium grease and it’s now good to go. I do still hear some sound from the shocks when they are absorbing bumps, but have been told that the noise is normal and to be expected. Overall though these coils are a great ride quality, and I would almost say that it’s a better ride quality than stock. I 100% recommend these for someone looking for a comfort.

I like them, very affordable coilovers. Make the ride much smoother. Might have to add some wd40 to get rid of noise when going over bumps
