OEM Downpipe to aftermarket 3" cat back exhaust.
Exhaust leaks seem to be an all-too-common issue with most modded Subarus. They tend to spring up out of nowhere and cause hours of troubleshooting headaches. One of the most common leaks that we hear about is from running an OEM downpipe with an aftermarket 3" cat back without a proper adapter. Use an adapter that allows you to retain your stock donut gasket for the best solution to finally end that pesky leak.
GrimmSpeed's adapter is CNC machined from mild steel and zinc coated for durability and longevity. This thing will outlast your car. Don't waste your time trying to get your OEM downpipe to seal without a donut gasket. In a short amount of time, they rust and corrode and will prevent you from ever getting a good seal with a typical flat gasket. Does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Adapter is heavy and feels well made. I used this to mate my own downpipe to a 3in catback. No leaks from the extra thick gasket nor the OEM donut gasket which I left on the vehicle and reused. Not sure why the review makes you choose a “loudness” rating being as this piece doesn’t affect the sound.

There’s a tiny bit of chatter without this on the R400 at low idle RPMs, I believe the slight leak was also causing drone at about 80 on the highway in 6th for a 23 WRX.

I had ordered the GrimmSpeed CBE adapter through a different vendor, but learned that they were out of stock and back ordered. Checked GrimmSpeed's own website and confirmed such a shortage. Somehow iiR had one in stock and I ordered. The turnaround time was good considering it was right around the holidays and everything matched my expectations.
