TEIN Street Basis Z coilovers are the latest in the TEIN coilover lineup. TEIN has simplified their manufacturing process and were able to signficantly reduce prices on their popular coilovers without sacrificing quality and craftsmanship.
The main difference between the Basis Z and the Basis is that the new Basis Z are non rebuildable coilovers. All other feaatures are the same. Because most (95%) do not rebuild their coilovers, TEIN thought it would be cost effective to have a new line with these shocks to reduce cost and manufacturing time. They passed the cost savings on to you!
STREET BASIS Z is strictly a ride height adjustable kit. This makes it a perfect setup for the daily driver looking for an increase in handling performance without compromising comfort for everyday use. For many of you considering a lowering spring + performance shock absorber combination, the STREET BASIS Z makes even more sense as we select appropriate spring rates and valve our dampers to match. No guesswork on the end-users part in trying to match one brand of springs to another brand of shock absorbers. The added height adjustment feature allows the end-user the ability to adjust ride height to their preference, something that lowering springs lack. Being that most vehicles are slightly unbalanced from left to right sides, that means you can easily adjust the ride height so that each corner is even from their opposing sides.

These are good bang for your buck if you're on a budget, but I did notice these make more clunking/creaking noises than other coilovers I've had in the past. If you can get over that then these are great street coilovers for how much they cost.
Johnny, when you are ready to upgrade to the Silver's Neomax series, let us know, a sales rep will help out. Tein is a decent entry level, but these really bring it a few steps above :)
The description does say that some kits dont have various parts . However it doesnt specifically say which do and dont. The kit for the wrx doesnt come with any of the parts except the coilovers. Mechanic had to strip my old ones down for most of the parts. Ended up costing me an extra 1.5 hours labor at 90$ each. Cost saving was almost lost on the labor cost
Be c are full. Otherwise they work great, car drives on rails now.
I agree, you should start out with Silver's Neomax coilovers, they are better all the way around. More comfortable than stock, better handling, and you do not need an extra $800 in accessories to make them work. They are basic for a reason, unfortunately they leave a lot to be desired, but the price point is attractive to some. Get with a sales rep here and we'll help out.
